Gladys

Gladys. This lovely creature- our newest employee in hostel Tura. Gladys the goat is responsible for the lawn around the hostel and also for recycling organic trash. Her hobby is to chew greens standing on a table. Stubborn, but very friendly - always follows humans and expects them to scratch her ears or chin.

Latest News and Fun

It's been a busy couple of months for us here, with the weather getting nicer, the rain stopping and people wanting to get the heck out of the city and do stuff! We've had several tours to Davit Garedji, around Dedoplitskaro and Tsinendali. Most of them have been fantastic and the only spoiler has been Tsinendali because of rain. Our excursion to the Ninoskhevi waterfall near Lagodekhi was loads of fun and resulted in some swinging from vines like Tarzan, a couple of great blisters and the inability to walk right for a couple days. Also our trip to Vashlovani National Park was quite interesting, beautiful landscapes and our car getting seriously broken down and trying to limp it back to Signagi. Luckily, we got it back and had her fixed up and she's driving better then ever now! Our dear friend Shad is here visiting for several weeks and is building us a giant grill which should be ready in plenty of time for our 4th of July party. Also our inaugural World Food Party was a real treat, with Inga and Ana fixing us wonderful Russian food. Pilmeni, Borscht and Olivier salad were mass consumed, as well as a couple liters of vodka and many liters of pivo! Our next one will be announced soon, and other upcoming parties have been decided, such as Lithuanian night on 24th of June and American night on 2-4th of July. Thats all for now, hopefully we'll have more to interest you all in soon!

Tura Tours

Tura Tours is the new touring service introduced this year from Hostel Tura. Our area of expertise is in the southern Kakheti region and photogenic trips across southern Georgia from Kakheti across Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and the Adjarian mountains.
One is a hiking trip near Lagodekhi national park. It's a five hour hike (2 1/2 there, 2 1/2 back) once you arrive and you get to a 150 meter waterfall where we have a small picnic and during the summer, swimming!
Another is around Dedoplistlkaro, where we visit Eagles canyon, Khornabuji castle and St. Ilia church.
The third is a tour of little known cave monasteries near the Iori river in the Garedji wilderness. It's a spectacular and photogenic trip where we see: Didi Kvabebi where you can find hundreds of pieces of ancient broken pottery littering the area, Kolagiri which has some wonderful frescos still visible, Sabereebi, which has 2 different complexes and one them also has some frescos (we have not seen that one as of yet) and Satorge monasteries.
We also offer a quick day trip to the main monastery of Davit Garedji (the one you see in pictures). This includes a picnic. This trip is best done in conjunction with the above trip but if short on time it gives a wonderful peek into the golden age of Georgia.
In a month or so we will also have a 3 or 4 day trip across the south of Georgia that begins in Signagi and will take us as far as either Batumi or Borjomi, depending on which you prefer.
It will feature either camping or guesthouses depending on how much "roughing it" you would like to do.
